Piet Mondrian was a dutch abstract artist from the De Stijl movement in the early to mid 1900's.  What two elements of art did he most use in his artwork?  In today's world, does his painting with the small blocks remind you of anything?  Please explain what it is.  Could you make it into something?

Salvador Dali was a famous Spanish Surrealist artist. He painted The Persistence of Memory with melting clocks.  Can you guess what he painted in the center of the painting?  The answer might really surprise you.  What do you think Salvador Dali thought his mustache channeled?

Grand Wood painted American Gothic in 1930.  It depicts life in Iowa during the Great Depression.  Many artists since have parodied his work.  For example, the Big Mac from McDonald's in the bottom artwork.  Can you guess in real life who the two people where who modeled for American Gothic?  How did Grant Wood know them?
